Community, growth and empowerment. Expect a physically challenging, sweaty practice that will get your heart pumping and tone your body, while also inviting you to discover your authentic personal power. I welcome and hold space for everyone who walks in the room. No exceptions. This work can be modified or amplified to support and challenge any level of fitness and experience!
“Just go. Go do whatever the thing is that lights you up. It’ll turn out just fine” (Thanks, Dad).
“Try this cayenne pepper and lemon water only – cleanse. You’ll feel amazing!”
I speak some Swahili. Not enough to debate politics but I could definitely get across town making small talk in a taxi. I lived in Tanzania in the early 2000’s and learned while directing service programs there and later, while working as a horseback riding safari guide. Later, after returning to the states, I got the opportunity to serve for 5 years as a mentor with the Africa Yoga Project, a fabulous nonprofit based out of Nairobi, Kenya. Having a little Swahili under my belt was definitely a great ice-breaker as I got to know my mentee.
For me, Baptiste Yoga is the practice that keeps on giving. I started my practice in the hopes of relieving chronic back and neck pain. My only goal at the time was to get off of prescription pain meds and to sleep at night. This work gave me that and so much more. My Baptiste practice taught me that I am whole and complete both inside and out, just as I am; that there’s nothing to fix. And that created a new willingness to say “yes” to things. And that discovery of “yes” has created possibility and some of the most wonderful adventures of my life. Including opening this studio!
It’s like a hurricane. But not in a bad way. Running a business. Raising two kids and two furry dog-monsters. Doing my best to keep everyone healthy, fed, excercised, curious, supported and loved. Daily meditation and movement for my soul. Remembering to shower (most of the time). Taking deeps breaths and staying present. And then we go SKIING! Skiing is up there with yoga in terms of what feeds my soul. From there I pepper in as much travel, live music and outside time a I can. Plus the occasional nap.
