Having been a teacher for many years, I have come to understand the power of encouragement.
It has empowered me to be the best version of myself, and I look for ways to empower others through encouragement.
What I have noticed is there is something really special about receiving encouragement. It helps me to not only take action, but to take action with intention. It’s not always easy, though.
Taking action comes with fear of the unknown and the potential to fail. It takes courage to confront fear and take a leap that takes us beyond what we already know.
I shared more about this at a program once, and I thought I’d share it here… a little blast from the past that might encourage you today.
The truth is, courage is an essential part of any act of encouragement. It’s even in the word itself… encourage. It’s essential in the process of personal growth and development.
I was reminded of this while traveling once, when I saw a couple of small kids playing in an airport. Their mom came over scolding them, asking them “Why are you playing, our plane’s about to board!” The kids looked at each other, trying to figure out an answer.
Eventually, they simply shrugged and said, “We’re just playing.”
This made me realize that play and joy can come from simply playing for play’s sake. Kids know this intuitively, and it’s a skill that adults need to revisit…
It’s a reminder that we should take the time to play, explore, and discover new ways of being.
At the end of the day, it’s important to remember that life and human beings are both malleable. Be encouraged, be willing to change, and don’t forget the power of play in your life!
And speaking of the power of play…
We’ve still got just a few weeks left before the Living True Fit to Live Fully retreat! There’s still space left. There’s a place for you, and the opportunity to spend a week playing in the sand, exploring the coral reefs, and letting the warm Caribbean waves lap at your feet.
We’ll spend the mornings doing yoga, exploring a course designed to ignite true transformation, and diving deep into the course I’ve prepared.
We’ll spend the afternoons playing, relaxing, and having once-in-a-lifetime experiences in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
