In life, we are always running through obstacles that can seem like the fault of others at first glance.
But we need to stop, take a step back, and take a closer look whenever we are in a situation like that. Oftentimes, these obstacles can be a mirror of our own hidden barriers.
There’s a tendency to launch into resentment, fear, and assumption whenever we are in conflict. But by doing that, we lose sight of what is real.
What is Ego?
The ego is defined as being a sense of someone’s self-esteem or self-importance.
It’s the part of the mind that mediates between consciousness and unconsciousness and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity.
When you say that someone has a “big ego,” you are saying they are too full of themselves.
The ego is not all bad, but it definitely can get in the way of self-discovery and be a roadblock to improving your life and habits. Our ego is what makes us quick to blame others instead of accepting when we may be the one at fault.
Are Ego and Pride the Same Thing?
Ego can be defined in simple terms as the way a person perceives themselves. That is how the particular individual thinks, feels, and distinguishes themselves from everyone else.
Pride, on the other hand, is a feeling one may get after an accomplishment or success. Pride and ego are often viewed as being the same but there are many differences.
Whatever transformation in life we are going through, whether it be spiritual or physical, we are always seeking to undo a thought system that has blinded us to our true vision.
Our egos can make living true very difficult.
If you make a mistake and you choose to hurt, lie and not take responsibility for your actions, you are saying no to what’s true…
And this will only hurt you in the long run.
You have the power to say NO to ego and to be able to look through the lens of higher consciousness.
Shift your vision and look at the situation with fresh eyes. Once we have trained ourselves in this new way of thinking, we start to recognize the obstacles created in our own hearts.
